Haralson is a small town in the state of Georgia, United States. It is located in two different counties: Coweta County and Meriwether County. In 2020, about 172 people lived there. Haralson is known for being a filming spot for popular TV shows and movies like The Walking Dead and Lawless.

History of Haralson

People first started living permanently in the area that is now Haralson in the 1820s. The town was named after Hugh A. Haralson. He was a Georgia congressman, which means he helped make laws for the country. Another place, Haralson County, Georgia, is also named after him.

The official government of Georgia, called the Georgia General Assembly, made Haralson an official town in 1907.

Geography and Location

Haralson is mostly located in the southeastern part of Coweta County. A small part of the town also stretches south into Meriwether County.

Two main roads, Georgia State Route 74 and Georgia State Route 85, run through the town together. If you go north on these roads for about 6 miles (10 km), you will reach Senoia. If you go south for about 10 miles (16 km), you will get to Gay.

The United States Census Bureau says that Haralson covers a total area of about 0.8 square miles (2.07 square kilometers). Only a very small part of this area, about 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometers), is water.
