Town History
The town of Harman got its name from Rev. Asa Harman. He was the first person to own the land where the town now stands. An important old building in Harman is the Day-Vandevander Mill. This mill was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. This means it's a special building recognized for its history and importance.

Harman is found in a part of West Virginia called the Potomac Highlands. It sits in a valley where two main roads meet: Route 33/55 (which goes east and west) and Route 32 (which starts in Harman and goes north towards the Canaan Valley area).
