Harvey Lowell Wollman (born May 14, 1935 – died October 18, 2022) was an American politician. He served as the 26th Governor of South Dakota from 1978 to 1979. He was the first Lieutenant Governor in South Dakota's history to become governor. He is also the last Democrat to serve as South Dakota's governor.

Early Life and Education
Harvey Wollman was born on May 14, 1935, in Frankfort, South Dakota. His parents were Edwin J. Wollman and Katherine (Kleinsasser) Wollman. He finished high school in Doland in 1953.
After high school, he went to Bethel College in Minnesota from 1954 to 1955. He then attended Huron College from 1956 to 1957. From 1958 to 1960, he served in the U.S. Army. In 1961, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Huron College.
Teaching and Farming Career
From 1961 to 1965, Wollman worked as a teacher at Doland High School. In 1965, he did more studies at the University of South Dakota. After that, he became a farmer.
Political Career
Harvey Wollman was very active in politics. He was the leader of the Democratic Party in Spink County.
State Senate
In 1966, Wollman ran for a seat in the South Dakota State Senate but lost. He tried again in 1968 and won against the same person. He was re-elected in 1970. After the 1970 election, his fellow senators chose him as the leader for the minority party.
Lieutenant Governor
In 1974, Wollman was elected Lieutenant Governor. He ran alongside Governor Richard F. Kneip.
Becoming Governor
In 1978, Wollman wanted to become governor. He ran for the Democratic nomination but lost the primary election on June 8. However, Governor Kneip resigned on July 24, 1978, to become the United States Ambassador to Singapore. Because of this, Harvey Wollman became the new governor. His brother, Roger Leland Wollman, who was a judge, swore him into office.
Time as Governor
Wollman served as governor until January 1, 1979. During his time in office, he worked to quickly remove the state property tax. He also increased the money given to colleges and universities. Republican Bill Janklow became the next governor.
Later Political Interests
Wollman stayed interested in politics. He thought about running for the United States Senate in 1984. Instead, he decided to run for his old seat in the state senate in 1984. He hoped to run for governor in 1986, but he lost the state senate election to Mary McClure.
Family and Later Life
Harvey Wollman was married to Ann Geigel. They had two sons, Michael and Daniel, and one daughter, Kristine.
He passed away in Huron, South Dakota, on October 18, 2022. He was 87 years old.
Legacy and Background
Wollman's family came from Russia and had German roots. He was a member of the Ebenezer Mennonite Brethren Church.
