History of Hawk Cove
Hawk Cove started as a community in the early 1970s. Two property owners, Sawyer and Culberson, began developing the area. At first, the properties were known by fun names like Whiskers Retreat Nos. 1, 2, and 3.
In January 1999, the community officially became a city and was named Hawk Cove. The city has grown since then. Its population increased quite a bit between 2000 and 2008.
Where is Hawk Cove?
Hawk Cove is located in the southern part of Hunt County, Texas. You can find it south of State Highway 276. It is also east of FM 751. The city is about 16 miles south of Greenville.
The city is quite small in size. It covers about 0.3 square miles of land. A big part of Hawk Cove is right on Lake Tawakoni. This large lake was built in 1960 and covers about 36,700 acres.
