Hawthorn Woods is a village located in Lake County, Illinois, United States. It's about 40 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. In 2020, about 9,062 people lived there. Hawthorn Woods became an official village in 1958.
You can get around Hawthorn Woods using roads like Midlothian Road and Old McHenry Road. The village is also home to the Hawthorn Woods Country Club, which has a golf course designed by famous golfer Arnold Palmer.

A Look Back: History of Hawthorn Woods
Long ago, the Potawatomi tribe lived in the area that is now Hawthorn Woods. In 1833, a treaty meant that many Native American tribes in the Midwest gave up their lands. Farmers from other parts of the country then settled here. Later, many German and Dutch immigrants also came to live in this area.
