Story Summary
An Unexpected Trip to Earth
Everyone in Eternia's royal palace is getting ready for Adam and Adora's birthday. Adam is helping Man-At-Arms finish the Sky Spy. This is a space shuttle designed to watch Skeletor. As they head back to the palace, Orko sneaks into the ship. He plays with the controls, causing the ship to launch into space with him inside!
Skeletor sees the Sky Spy and chases it in his own ship, the Collector. He-Man and She-Ra, not knowing Orko is inside, arrive and damage Skeletor's ship. Meanwhile, Orko tries to land the Sky Spy using a magic spell. This makes the shuttle disappear from Eternia and crash-land on Earth.
On Earth, Orko meets two children, Miguel and Alisha. They got lost while looking for their family's Christmas tree. Orko brings them into the crashed Sky Spy. The children then explain what Christmas is to him.
Finding a Way Back Home
Back on Eternia, everyone realizes Orko is missing. They find his magic spellbook near the Sky Spy's launch pad. Man-At-Arms finds the Sky Spy's location. Queen Marlena recognizes these as Earth's coordinates.
To bring Orko back, Man-At-Arms needs a special Carium Water Crystal for his Transport Beam. There are no such crystals on Eternia. Adora thinks there might be one on Etheria. She secretly transforms into She-Ra and flies off on Swift Wind.
On Etheria, She-Ra gets help from Mermista to find the crystal. A scary Beast Monster guards it. They manage to get the crystal. But as She-Ra and Swift Wind prepare to leave, they are stopped. Huge robot menaces called Monstroids appear. They trap She-Ra and Swift Wind, then leave for their headquarters. This allows She-Ra and Swift Wind to escape.
Christmas Comes to Eternia
Adora returns with the crystal. Man-At-Arms gets the Transport Beam working. Orko and the Sky Spy are transported back. But Orko has brought Miguel, Alisha, and their Christmas tree with them! The children are upset they might miss Christmas, as it will take days for the crystal to recharge. Queen Marlena, who is from Earth herself, decides to combine Adam and Adora's birthday party with a Christmas party.
Meanwhile, Horde Prime, the supreme master of Skeletor and Hordak, calls them. He believes the Christmas spirit could stop his plans. He orders them to capture the two Earth children. This starts a big competition between Skeletor and Hordak.
The Race to Capture the Children
Soon, Bow finishes a Christmas song. Hordak then appears and uses a tractor beam to capture Miguel and Alisha, taking Orko too. But Hordak's ship is brought down by the Monstroids. The Monstroids take the children hostage themselves. Hordak and his men have to retreat. Luckily, the Manchines, who are friendly robots, show up to rescue Orko and the children.
The Monstroids try to stop them. But He-Man and She-Ra arrive just in time. They were told where the children were by Peekablue. He-Man and She-Ra, with help from the Manchines, fight the Monstroids.
During the battle, Skeletor arrives and captures Miguel and Alisha. He also takes a Manchine puppy named Relay. Hordak reappears and shoots down Skeletor's sky-scooter. Skeletor crash-lands in a snowy mountain range. He is now forced to take his prisoners to Horde Prime on foot.
Skeletor's Unexpected Kindness
During the long walk, Skeletor feels a strange urge to be kind. He gives the children winter jackets to protect them from the cold. He also brings Relay along so the puppy doesn't freeze. He even protects the children from a snowbeast! He asks the children about Christmas. All the while, he tries to convince them – and himself – that he is still a bad guy.
Just as Horde Prime arrives in his ship, He-Man, She-Ra, and Orko catch up. Hordak also arrives. He knocks Skeletor out by deflecting Skeletor's own laser blast. Hordak then distracts He-Man and She-Ra by sending out his Horde Troopers.
Just in time, Relay wakes Skeletor. Skeletor then saves the children by shooting down Horde Prime's arriving ship. Horde Prime is furious and tries to shoot Skeletor. But He-Man and She-Ra lift his ship and throw it into space! To He-Man's surprise, the children thank Skeletor for saving them. Skeletor is relieved to learn that Christmas only happens once a year.
A Christmas Celebration
Back at the palace, the good guys celebrate their Christmas party. Adam, dressed as Santa Claus, gives the children flying belts. Man-At-Arms then uses the Transporter to send Miguel and Alisha back to their home on Earth. Their parents welcome them back.
At the end of the special, Prince Adam and Orko share a special Christmas message. Adam says that "Though we celebrate it and get presents, Christmas is about caring, sharing and goodwill and its spirit is within all of us". Orko, in his funny way, says that what makes him happy on Christmas is... presents!
