Alan Oppenheimer was born in New York City on April 23, 1930. His parents were Louis and Irene Oppenheimer. His father worked as a stockbroker, which is someone who buys and sells stocks for others.
Acting on TV and in Movies
Alan Oppenheimer has played many different characters in popular American TV shows. For example, he was a Nazi in Hogan's Heroes. He also played a secret agent and a double-agent scientist on Get Smart.
He was the second actor to play Dr. Rudy Wells in The Six Million Dollar Man. He also played Mickey Malph, the dad of Ralph Malph, on Happy Days. Later, he had a regular role as Mayor Alvin B. Tutwiller on Mama's Family.
In movies, Oppenheimer appeared in the 1973 science fiction film Westworld. He played the head IT technician in that movie. He has also appeared in three different Star Trek TV series, playing a new character each time. He was a Klingon cleric named Koroth in Star Trek: The Next Generation. He also played a Starfleet Captain in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and an alien ambassador in Star Trek: Voyager.
He even acted on Broadway, playing film director Cecil B. DeMille in the musical Sunset Blvd. in 1994.

Alan Oppenheimer is very well known for his voice acting. He has voiced many characters, especially for the animation company Filmation in the 1970s and 1980s.
Some of his most famous voice roles include:
- Ming the Merciless on Flash Gordon
- Skeletor, Man-At-Arms, and Mer-Man from the popular 1980s cartoon He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
- Prime Evil in Filmation's 1986 TV series, Ghostbusters
He also voiced characters like Falkor, Gmork, Rockbiter, and the Narrator in the 1984 movie The NeverEnding Story. In the early 1990s, he was the voice of Merlin in The Legend of Prince Valiant.
Oppenheimer also worked on The Transformers TV show. He voiced two very different characters: the peaceful Beachcomber and the tough Warpath. He also voiced Seaspray.
More recently, he provided the voice of the scientist for the 2009 animated film 9. He also voiced Batman's butler, Alfred Pennyworth, in the animated movie Superman/Batman: Public Enemies. In 2019, he voiced Old Timer in Toy Story 4.

Personal Life
Alan Oppenheimer married costume designer Marianna Elliott in 1958. They had three children together. They later divorced but got married again in 1992. They stayed married until Marianna passed away in 2003.
