Goober and the Ghost Chasers is a fun animated TV show. It was made by Hanna-Barbera Productions in the United States and Eric Porter Studios in Australia. The show first aired on ABC on September 8, 1973. It ran until August 30, 1975.

There were 16 episodes, each about 30 minutes long. Later, the episodes were shown again as part of another cartoon series. You might have also seen it on channels like USA Cartoon Express or Boomerang. Like many cartoons from the 1970s, it used a laugh track. However, on Cartoon Network and Boomerang, these laugh tracks are often turned off.

Meet the Ghost Chasers

This cartoon is a lot like another popular Hanna-Barbera show, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!. In Goober and the Ghost Chasers, a group of teenagers solves spooky mysteries. The main characters are Ted, Gilly, and Tina. Their special helper is their dog, Goober, who looks a bit like an Afghan Hound.

They write for Ghost Chasers Magazine. To solve mysteries, they use cool tools from their "Apparition Kit." These tools include things like a Specter Detector and Poltergeist Powder. They use these to figure out if a ghost is real or just a trick.

What Makes Goober Special?

There are some big differences from other ghost-hunting shows. In Goober and the Ghost Chasers, the ghosts they find are sometimes real! These real ghosts often help the team defeat the fake ones. Also, not everyone pretending to be a ghost is a bad guy.

Goober has a unique power: he can turn invisible! The only problem is, he can't control when it happens. Goober's closest human friend is Ted, who is quite brave and not easily scared. Goober can also speak more clearly than some other cartoon dogs. He often talks directly to the audience, sharing his thoughts.

Guest Stars in the Show

For the first 11 episodes, the famous Partridge Kids were regular characters. They were from the TV show The Partridge Family. The real actors who played the Partridge Kids even did their voices for the cartoon! After the eleventh episode, they stopped appearing. Other guest stars would sometimes show up instead.
