When he holds it up, he transforms into He-Man, known as the most powerful man in the universe! He-Man, along with his brave friends like Battle Cat, Teela, Man-At-Arms, and Orko, constantly battles the evil Skeletor. Skeletor wants to take control of Eternia and the entire universe.
This cartoon was very popular. It inspired two more He-Man shows, one in the early 1990s and another in 2002. There was also a spin-off series called She-Ra: Princess of Power, which was about He-Man's sister.

The Story of He-Man
The cartoon takes place on the planet Eternia. This world is a mix of magic, advanced technology, and ancient castles. Prince Adam lives in Castle Grayskull, a mysterious fortress. He looks like a normal prince, but he hides a big secret.
When danger threatens Eternia, Prince Adam raises his magic sword and shouts, "By the power of Grayskull! I have the power!" This chant turns him into He-Man. His pet tiger, Cringer, also transforms into the brave Battle Cat.
Who are He-Man's Friends?
He-Man has many loyal friends who help him protect Eternia.
- Battle Cat: He-Man's giant, armored tiger. He is Cringer's brave alter ego.
- Teela: The captain of the Royal Guard. She is a skilled warrior and Man-At-Arms's daughter.
- Man-At-Arms: His real name is Duncan. He is a brilliant inventor and soldier. He creates many gadgets for He-Man and the Royal Guard.
- Orko: A small, floating wizard from another dimension. His magic often goes wrong, but he is a good friend.
- The Sorceress: She lives in Castle Grayskull. She is a powerful magic user who guides and protects He-Man.
Who is Skeletor?
The main villain of the series is Skeletor. He is a powerful sorcerer with a skull for a face. Skeletor lives on Snake Mountain and leads an army of evil characters. His main goal is to break into Castle Grayskull. He believes that if he controls the castle, he will gain ultimate power over Eternia.
Skeletor has many evil helpers, including:
- Evil-Lyn: A powerful sorceress who often helps Skeletor with her dark magic.
- Beast Man: He can control wild animals and is very strong.
- Trap Jaw: A cyborg with a metal jaw and many interchangeable weapons.
How the Show Was Made
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was created by Filmation Associates. This animation studio was known for making many popular cartoons in the 1980s. The show first aired on September 5, 1983. It ran for two seasons, with a total of 130 episodes. The final episode aired on November 21, 1985.
The show was unique because it was one of the first cartoons based directly on a toy line. This helped make both the toys and the show very successful. Each episode was about 23 minutes long. It taught lessons about courage, friendship, and fighting for what is right.
