What Was the Show About?

The show was split into two main cartoon parts: Hero High and Shazam!. Sometimes, characters from one cartoon would even pop up in the other! For example, Isis from The Secrets of Isis also appeared in an animated episode of Hero High.

Hero High

Hero High was a comedy about a group of students. These students went to a special high school just for superheroes! It was originally planned to feature characters from Archie Comics. But during its creation, the company making the show, Filmation, stopped working with Archie Comics. So, the characters were changed to be more general versions of similar roles.

Shazam!

The Shazam! cartoon was based on the DC Comics series. It followed the exciting adventures of Captain Marvel and his amazing Marvel Family. This family included Mary Marvel, Captain Marvel Jr., Uncle Marvel, and even their talking tiger, Tawky Tawny. In the show, this super team fought against many bad guys. Some of their enemies were Doctor Sivana, Mister Mind, Black Adam, Mister Atom, and Ibac.

Episodes

The Shazam! part of the show had 12 episodes. Each one featured the Marvel Family facing a new challenge. For example, in "Who's Who at the Zoo," they had to deal with a super-intelligent gorilla named Doctor Allirog. In "The Incredible Sinking City," Mister Mind tried to take over Fawcett City with an army of worms! Another episode, "Star Master and the Solar Mirror," was special because it was the only time characters from Hero High and Shazam! crossed over. Captain Marvel went to Hero High to get help from some of the students there.
