Helen Abdulla, known as Helly Luv, is a talented Kurdish singer, dancer, and actress. She was born on November 16, 1988. Helly Luv became famous by sharing her singing videos online. She posted them on social media sites like Myspace and YouTube.
Since then, Helly Luv has appeared in movies and music videos. She has also released her own songs. Her 2013 song "Risk It All" became very popular. Helly Luv later signed with G2 Music Group. In 2014, she acted in her first big movie, Mardan.

Helly Luv's Early Life
Helly Luv was born in Urmia, Iran. Her family is Kurdish. They had to leave their home in Iraqi Kurdistan for safety. They first went to Iran, where Helly Luv was born. Then they moved to Turkey.
Eventually, Helly Luv and her family were allowed to become citizens of Finland. They were among the first Kurdish families to live there. Helly Luv loved music and performing from a young age. She sang in a neighborhood choir. She also learned to play the piano and took drama classes. She often performed her singing and dancing skills at school. Dancing became very important to her. She even competed in dance championships in Europe. Later, she signed a contract with Nike Women in Finland.
Her Music Career
In 2006, Helly Luv moved to Los Angeles, California, in the United States. She went there to follow her dream of becoming a star. Just before she planned to return to Finland, something exciting happened. She received a message on Myspace from a famous record producer. His name was Los Da Mystro, and he had won a Grammy award. He wanted to sign her to his company.
During this time, Helly Luv worked with another Grammy-winning singer and songwriter, The-Dream. In late 2013, Helly Luv signed a music deal with G2 Music Group. This company released her first song, "Risk It All." It was an energetic and inspiring song. The song mixed Latin and Middle Eastern sounds with pop music. "Risk It All" quickly became popular in Finland. It reached the top three on iTunes in its first week. It even competed with Rihanna's song "Diamonds".
Acting and Activism
In 2014, Helly Luv starred in the international movie Mardan. She played the main character, Leila. The movie was directed by Batin Ghobadi and Bahman Ghobadi. Later that year, she attended the Toronto International Film Festival. She was the first Kurdish actress to attend this big event.
In 2015, Helly Luv filmed the music video for her song "Revolution." She shot it in an abandoned village near Mosul. This area was close to where Kurdish forces were fighting the ISIL. In the video, she is seen writing "Revolution" on a tank shell with red lipstick. She then appears near the front lines, just a few kilometers away from the fighting.

Philanthropy Work

In 2014, Helly Luv started her own non-profit organization called Luv House. This group helps people and animals in need across Kurdistan. On January 22, 2014, Helly Luv and other groups worked together. They helped close down the Gelkand Park in Kurdistan. This park was known as one of the worst zoos in the world.
Helly Luv and the other organizations moved the animals to a new, better zoo in Erbil. Erbil is the capital city of the Kurdistan region. On July 6, 2014, Helly Luv visited the peshmerga headquarters. This was in the city of Duhok, Iraq, near the border of Mosul. She went there to deliver food and water to the peshmerga troops. They were defending against ISIL at the time.
