Exploring Hemlock's Location
Hemlock is located in the eastern part of Livingston County. A main road, U.S. Route 20A, runs through the hamlet. This road can take you to Livonia village to the west or Honeoye to the east, both about 5 miles away.
Another important road, New York State Route 15A, also passes through Hemlock. It joins US 20A for a bit before heading north to Lima. If you go south on NY 15A, you'll reach Springwater.
Natural Features Around Hemlock
The southern part of Hemlock includes a smaller area called Glenville. This area is close to the northern end of Hemlock Lake. Hemlock Lake is one of New York's famous Finger Lakes.
Hemlock covers about 1.86 square miles (4.8 square kilometers) of land. A stream called Hemlock Outlet flows north from Hemlock Lake, right through the middle of Hemlock. This stream eventually connects to Honeoye Creek, which is part of the larger Genesee River system.
The Hemlock Fairgrounds
On the western side of Hemlock, you'll find the Hemlock Fairground. This is where the Hemlock "Little World's" Fair takes place. The fairground buildings and its racetrack are quite old and important. They were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000, meaning they are recognized for their historical value.
