Cool Projects They've Designed

HPARC has worked on some really amazing buildings and structures around the world.

Grand Egyptian Museum

One of their most famous projects is the Grand Egyptian Museum in Egypt. This museum is very close to the famous Pyramids of Giza. To get this project, HPARC won a huge design competition. There were 1,557 other designs from companies all over the world! Even though HPARC only had three staff members at the time, their design was chosen as the best.

Giant's Causeway Visitors' Centre

They also designed the visitors' centre at the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland. This is a very famous natural site with unique rock formations. The centre helps people learn about the area and enjoy their visit.

London Olympic Park Bridges

Heneghan Peng Architects designed new footbridges for the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, England. These bridges help people move around the park, which was built for the Olympic Games.

Other Important Designs

In 2009, HPARC won three more big design competitions:

  • They designed the headquarters for Arabsat in Saudi Arabia. This is a company that uses satellites for communication.
  • They won a competition to build a bridge called the Mittelrheinbruecke. This bridge crosses the Rhine River in Germany, connecting the towns of St. Goar and St. Goarshausen.
  • They also designed a new library and academic building for the University of Greenwich in London. This building is located in a very special area that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This means the area is recognized by the United Nations as having great historical or cultural importance.

Awards

Heneghan Peng Architects has received many awards for their excellent designs.

  • Their project, Áras Chill Dara in Kildare, Ireland, won a RIBA European Award in 2006. This is a prize given for great building designs in Europe.
  • The Giant's Causeway Visitors' Centre won a RIBA National Award. It was also nominated for the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2013.
