Charles Henry Bibby (born November 24, 1949) is a former American basketball player and coach. He played as a point guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for teams like the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers. After his playing career, Bibby became a successful coach at different levels of basketball.

Henry Bibby comes from a family of athletes. His brother, Jim Bibby, was a professional baseball pitcher. His son, Mike Bibby, also became a well-known NBA point guard.

Playing Career

Henry Bibby started his college basketball journey at UCLA in 1969. As a freshman, he was the top scorer on his team.

Bibby was a key player for the UCLA Bruins. He helped them win three straight national championships from 1970 to 1972. These wins were part of a huge 88-game winning streak for UCLA. In his final year, he was named an All-American. He is one of only four players to have started on three NCAA championship teams, all under legendary coach John Wooden.

In 1972, the New York Knicks picked Bibby in the NBA draft. He chose to play for the Knicks and helped them win an NBA title in 1973. He played nine seasons in the NBA. He also reached the NBA Finals twice with the Philadelphia 76ers in 1977 and 1980.

Coaching Career

After his playing days, Bibby began coaching in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He led his teams to two championships in 1982 and 1989.

In 1996, Henry Bibby became the head coach for the men's basketball team at the University of Southern California (USC). He coached there for nine seasons, leading the team to the NCAA tournament three times (1997, 2001, and 2002). In 2001, his team made it to the "Elite Eight" of the tournament, which is a great achievement.

In 2005, he coached the Los Angeles Sparks in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). He also worked as an assistant coach for NBA teams like the Philadelphia 76ers, Memphis Grizzlies, and Detroit Pistons.
