Henry Collin Minton was born in 1855 in Prosperity, Pennsylvania. He went to Washington and Jefferson College, where he earned several degrees. These included his first degree (Bachelor of Arts) in 1879 and a higher degree (Master of Arts) in 1882. He also received honorary degrees later in his life.
Henry Minton's Education and Early Career
After college, Henry Minton studied at the Western Theological Seminary. This is a special school where people learn to become ministers. He finished his studies there in 1882.
Before he became a full minister, he was "licensed" in 1881. This meant he was allowed to preach. In June 1882, he was "ordained," which made him a full minister.
Where Did Henry Minton Serve?
Henry Minton served in several churches across the United States:
- He was a pastor in Duluth, Minnesota, from 1882 to 1883.
- He also served in Baltimore, Maryland, for a short time in 1882.
- In 1884, he moved to California. There, he was the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in San Jose from 1885 to 1891.

Teaching and Later Ministry
From 1891 to 1902, Henry Minton was a professor at the San Francisco Theological Seminary. He taught "Systematic Theology," which is the study of religious beliefs in an organized way.
After his time as a professor, he moved back east. In 1902, he became the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Trenton, New Jersey. He continued his work there until his death in 1924.
