Henry Gracely Klinefelter (October 22, 1843 – March 22, 1910) was an American farmer and a Republican politician. He served one term in the Wisconsin State Assembly, which is like the state's law-making body. He represented Dane County during his time in office.

Henry G. Klinefelter was born in Marion County, Ohio, in 1843. When he was about three years old, in 1846, his family moved to Wisconsin Territory. They settled in a community called Nora, which is part of the town of Cottage Grove in Dane County.

Henry Klinefelter worked as a farmer. He also bought and sold tobacco. He married Lydia Hoffman, but she sadly passed away in 1871. The next year, in 1872, he married Frances A. Devoe.

Serving in the Civil War

During the American Civil War, Henry Klinefelter joined the army. He was part of Company D in the 7th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment. This regiment was famous for being part of the Iron Brigade, a group of soldiers known for their bravery. Later in the war, he was promoted to Second Lieutenant in the 51st Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment. He was even wounded during the Battle of the Wilderness.

His Role in Politics

After the war, Henry Klinefelter continued to be involved in his community. He served as a justice of the peace, which meant he helped with local legal matters. He also worked as a census enumerator, helping to count the people living in his area.

Henry Klinefelter was a member of the Republican Party. In 1889, he was elected to serve in the Wisconsin State Assembly. This is where state laws are made. He served one term, representing the people of Dane County.

Henry G. Klinefelter passed away in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1910.
