Hiram Seymour Hall (born September 26, 1835 – died July 1, 1908) was a brave soldier. He was an officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He received the Medal of Honor. This is the highest award a soldier can get in the U.S. military.

Early Life and Military Service

Hiram Hall was born in Barkersville, New York. This was on September 26, 1835. He joined the Union Army during the Civil War. He showed amazing courage in battle.

Heroic Actions in Battle

Hiram Hall earned his Medal of Honor for two acts of bravery. The first was on June 27, 1862. This happened during the Battle of Gaines' Mill. The second act was on November 7, 1863. This was at the Second Battle of Rappahannock Station. At that time, he was a Captain. He served with Company G of the 121st New York Volunteer Infantry.

Life After the War

After the Civil War ended, Hiram Hall went back to New York. He married Augusta J. Galentine Hall. They had three children together. Their names were Clarence, Harry, and Augusta.

Receiving the Medal of Honor

Hiram Hall officially received his Medal of Honor later in life. It was given to him on August 17, 1891. This award recognized his incredible bravery during the war.

Final Years

Hiram Hall passed away on July 1, 1908. He was 72 years old. He was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence, Kansas. His wife and two of his children lived on after him.
