Here Comes the Grump is a fun animated cartoon series. It was made by DePatie–Freleng Enterprises and first shown on the NBC network. The show aired from 1969 to 1970. Later, it was shown again on the Sci-Fi Channel during a show called Cartoon Quest.

This cartoon was all about a battle between good and evil, but it was mostly played for laughs! The main bad guy, called The Grump, was voiced by the famous comedian Rip Taylor.

About the Show

The story of Here Comes the Grump follows a young boy named Terry Dexter. He travels through a magical world with a princess named Dawn. Their goal is to break a spell. This spell was cast by a grumpy wizard, who is known as The Grump. The Grump turned everyone in the kingdom into stone!

Terry and Princess Dawn go on many adventures. They try to find a special "Cave of a Thousand Echoes." This cave holds the only way to break The Grump's spell. The show is full of funny moments and exciting challenges.

When It Aired

The cartoon series Here Comes the Grump first aired on NBC. It started on September 6, 1969. New episodes were shown until December 27, 1969. After that, NBC continued to show reruns of the series until December 28, 1970.

Even though it only had one season, the show was rerun many times. In the mid-1990s, it was shown again on the Sci-Fi Channel. The complete series was later released on DVD on January 31, 2006.

The show was also popular in other countries. In Spanish-speaking countries, it was called Ahi viene cascarrabias. It was rerun in the 1970s and 1980s by Televisa. After the DVD came out, it was shown again in 2006. In Brazil, it was known as "Grump, o feiticeiro trapalhão" and was rerun until 1993.

The Movie Version

Years after the TV show, a movie based on Here Comes the Grump was made! In 2014, it was announced that a feature film was being produced. This movie was made by Ánima Estudios in Mexico and GFM Animation.

The film was released in Mexico on July 26, 2018. It came out in the United States on September 14, 2018. In the US, the movie was called A Wizard's Tale.
