Herronton is a very small community known as a hamlet in southern Alberta, Canada. It is located within Vulcan County, which is a larger area that manages local services.
Herronton is about 6 kilometers (4 miles) north of Highway 23. It's also roughly 64 kilometers (40 miles) southeast of the big city of Calgary.
The community got its post office in 1912. It was named after John Herron, who was a member of the North-West Mounted Police. This was an early police force in Canada, similar to today's RCMP.
How Many People Live in Herronton?
In 2007, a special count of people, called a municipal census, was done by Vulcan County. This census found that only 10 people lived in Herronton at that time.
