Hideaki Ozawa (小澤 英明, Ozawa Hideaki, born 17 March 1974) is a Japanese former professional football player. He played as a goalkeeper, which means he was the player who tries to stop the ball from going into the goal.

Hideaki Ozawa's Football Journey

Hideaki Ozawa was born in Namegata, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, on March 17, 1974. He grew up to become a talented goalkeeper in the world of football.

Starting with Kashima Antlers

After finishing high school, Hideaki Ozawa joined Kashima Antlers in 1992. This was his first professional team. However, it was tough for him to play many games because other goalkeepers, like Masaaki Furukawa and Yohei Sato, were already very good. In July 1997, he had to leave the club for a while because of a back injury.

Playing for Yokohama Marinos

In October 1998, Ozawa joined Yokohama Marinos. This team later changed its name to Yokohama F. Marinos. Even here, he found it hard to get much playing time. Another great goalkeeper, Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi, was usually the one playing.

Loan to Cerezo Osaka

In 2000, Hideaki Ozawa played for Cerezo Osaka for a few months. He was on loan, which means he temporarily played for a different team.

Time with FC Tokyo

In 2001, he moved to FC Tokyo. Still, he faced strong competition from other goalkeepers, especially Yoichi Doi, which limited his chances to play regularly.

Back to Kashima Antlers

In 2004, Ozawa returned to Kashima Antlers, the team he started with. This was seven years after he first left. He still had to compete with Hitoshi Sogahata, another strong goalkeeper. But in 2006, Sogahata got injured, and Ozawa got to play in 12 matches that season.

Playing in Paraguay: Sportivo Luqueño

In January 2010, Hideaki Ozawa moved to a new country to play football! He signed with Sportivo Luqueño, a team in Paraguay. He played four games for them in the 2010 season. His first game was a 1–1 draw against Olimpia Asunción on November 11, 2010. He played the full 90 minutes in that game. He also played in a 3–1 win against Tacuary and a 0–0 draw against Sport Colombia. His last game for Sportivo Luqueño was a 1–1 draw against Sol de América on December 5, 2010.

Final Years with Albirex Niigata

In 2011, Ozawa came back to Japan and joined Albirex Niigata in April. From June that year, he became the main goalkeeper for the team. This happened because their regular goalkeeper, Masaaki Higashiguchi, got injured. Hideaki Ozawa played regularly until the end of the season. He continued playing for Albirex Niigata until he retired from professional football at the end of the 2012 season.
