History of High Forest Community
High Forest has a long history, dating back to the mid-1800s. It was officially planned and mapped out, a process called "platting," in the year 1855.
Why High Forest Got Its Name
The community was named "High Forest" because of the many tall trees and forests that were found near where the original town was established. This name reflected the natural beauty and landscape of the area at the time.
Early Communication: The Post Office
A post office was opened in High Forest in 1856. This was an important place for people to send and receive mail, connecting the community to the outside world. The post office served the residents for many years, but it eventually closed down in 1902.
