Hillman is a small village located in the state of Michigan, in the United States. It's mostly in Montmorency County, with a tiny part reaching into Alpena County. In 2020, about 605 people lived here.

A Look Back in Time
For a short time, from 1881 to 1891, Hillman was the main government center for Montmorency County. This means it was the 'county seat', where important county offices and courts were located. Later, the county seat moved to Atlanta.

Hillman is found in the eastern part of Montmorency County. A small section of the village also extends into Alpena County. It is about 15 miles (24 km) east of Atlanta. It is also about 23 miles (37 km) west of Alpena.
Land and Water Features
The village covers an area of about 1.70 square miles (4.40 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. Only a small part, about 0.05 square miles (0.13 square kilometers), is water.
The Thunder Bay River flows right through Hillman. This river continues east until it reaches Lake Huron near Alpena. Another smaller stream, Brush Creek, joins the Thunder Bay River within the village.
Hillman's Population Over Time
The number of people living in Hillman has changed over the years. In 1900, there were 253 residents. The population grew to 701 people by 2010. However, by the 2020 census, the population was 605 people.

Hillman has several important roads and trails that help people travel.
Main Roads
- M-32 is a state highway that goes around the village. It then turns east towards Alpena County.
- M-32 Business is a local route that runs directly through the center of Hillman.
- F-21 is a county highway. It also passes through the village and connects to M-32 south of Hillman.

- The Alpena to Hillman Trail is a path for walking, biking, or other activities. It connects Hillman with the city of Alpena.
