Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) is a very large Indian company that makes many products you use every day. It is based in Mumbai, India. HUL is part of a bigger British company called Unilever plc.
HUL makes a wide range of products. These include foods, drinks, cleaning supplies, and items for personal care. They also make water purifiers and other common household goods.
HUL started in 1931 as the Hindustan Vanaspati Manufacturing Co. In 1956, several companies merged, and it was renamed Hindustan Lever Limited. The company changed its name again in June 2007 to Hindustan Unilever Limited.
As of 2019, HUL had more than 50 different product brands. The company has about 21,000 employees. In 2018, HUL bought the consumer business of GlaxoSmithKline in India. This deal was completed in April 2020.

Where HUL is Located
Hindustan Unilever's main office is in Andheri, Mumbai. This office campus is quite large, covering over 12.5 acres of land. More than 1,600 employees work there. The campus was designed by an architecture firm from Mumbai called Kapadia Associates.
Before this, the company's headquarters were in a building called Lever House in Mumbai for over 46 years.
HUL also has important research centers. The Hindustan Unilever Research Centre (HURC) was first set up in 1966 in Mumbai. Later, in 1997, Unilever Research India was started in Bangalore. By 2006, all of the company's research facilities were brought together at one location in Bangalore.
Awards and Recognition
Hindustan Unilever has received many awards for its work and how it operates.
In 2014, HUL's "Project Shakti" was recognized for 'Creating Shared Value'. This project helps women in rural areas become entrepreneurs. Forbes magazine also named HUL the number one 'Most Innovative Company' in the world in 2014. They also received an award as a 'Conscious Capitalist of the Year' in 2013.
In 2013, a survey by Business World magazine found that Unilever was the fourth most respected company in India. A 2015 survey showed that HUL was a top choice for business school students looking for jobs. Many students in India consider it a 'Dream Employer'.
Forbes recognized HUL as one of the world's most innovative companies in 2012, ranking it 6th globally. In 2011, HUL was named the most innovative company in India. The company also received the National Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance in 2011.
Many HUL brands are very popular. In 2014, 36 HUL brands were listed among the 100 Most Trusted Brands in a survey. Some of these well-known brands include Lux, Dove, Lipton, Vim, Kissan, Bru, Rexona, Close Up, Clinic Plus, Pond's, Knorr, and Pepsodent.
HUL is also a top choice for students graduating from India's best management schools. For many years, it has been rated as one of the most respected companies in India. The Indian government has recognized HUL as a Golden Super Star Trading House because it is one of the country's largest exporters.
