Holland is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. About 3,401 people lived there in 2010. The town gets its name from the Holland Land Company, which once owned much of the land in Western New York.
Holland is one of the "Southtowns" of Erie County. It is located in the southeast part of the county, southeast of Buffalo.

History of Holland
The first settlers arrived in Holland around 1807. This area was then known as "Humphrey Valley."
The town of Holland was officially created in 1818. It was formed from a larger, older town called Willink. Holland was named after the Holland Land Company. This company was owned by Dutch investors who bought and sold land in this part of New York.
Many original buildings in Holland were destroyed by fire over time. Today, the Holland Historical Society is located in the town's first fire hall on Main Street.
Geography of Holland
Holland covers about 92.8 square kilometers (35.8 square miles) in total. Most of this area is land.
The eastern border of Holland is shared with the town of Java in Wyoming County.
New York State Route 16 is a main highway that runs north and south through the town. The East Branch of Cazenovia Creek also flows northward through Holland.
Holland Central Schools
The Holland school system was created in 1933. A new school building was built on 103 Canada Street. Students moved into this new building in January 1933.
Later, the Harold O. Brumstead elementary building was added in 1960. A middle school was built in 1973. The original building on Canada Street is now the Holland Junior/Senior High School.
In November 1982, the Holland boys varsity soccer team achieved a state title. They tied with Mattituck 1-1 in the state Class C soccer finals. This was the school's first state championship in any sport.
Notable People from Holland
- Dave Hack – A former player in the Canadian Football League (CFL).
- James M. Humphrey – A former member of the U.S. Congress.
- Laura (Colby) Ingalls – The mother of Charles Ingalls and grandmother of Laura Ingalls Wilder. Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote the famous Little House on the Prairie books. Laura (Colby) Ingalls was born here on November 5, 1810.
- Mike Raymer – An Emmy Award winner.
- Frank E. Wheelock – One of the founders and the first mayor of Lubbock, Texas. He was born in Holland in 1863.
