Holy Trinity Church, Greenfield is a beautiful church located on Basingwerk Avenue in Greenfield, Flintshire, Wales (grid reference SJ194776). It is an active Anglican church, which means it belongs to the Church in Wales. The church is part of the Estuary and Mountain Mission Area and the diocese of St Asaph. Because of its special history and architecture, it was officially recognized as a Grade II listed building on August 19, 1991. This means it's an important building that should be protected.

Building the Church

Early Design and Construction

The church was first built between 1870 and 1871. A famous architect named Ewan Christian designed it. His original plan included the main part of the church, called the nave, and a side section known as a south aisle. The church also featured tall, narrow windows called lancet windows.

Christian had also planned to add a special chapel with a rounded end (an apsidal chapel) and a room for the clergy (a vestry) at the southeast side. However, these parts were never built. The church was ready for people to start worshipping there on October 18, 1871.

Later Additions and Completion

Many years later, between 1910 and 1911, another architect made important changes. This was John Douglas from Chester. He added the chancel, which is the area around the altar where the clergy lead services. Douglas designed this part in a simpler style.

After these additions were completed, the church was officially dedicated on April 25, 1911. This ceremony is called a consecration. Today, the Vicar of Holywell, who leads the church, is the Rev'd Dominic Austin Cawdell OGS.
