Holziken is a small town, called a municipality, in Switzerland. It is located in the Kulm district within the canton of Aargau.

Holziken's Past: A Look at Its History

Holziken was first mentioned in official papers in 1306. Back then, it was known as Helzinkon. Important landowners in the village included the Abbey of St. Gall and knights who served the powerful Habsburg family.

From 1415 to 1798, the city of Bern was in charge of Holziken. In 1528, the Protestant Reformation brought new religious changes to the village. Later, in 1803, Holziken became part of the Kulm district in the new Aargau canton.

In the 1700s and 1800s, people in Holziken mostly worked in farming and processing cotton at home. Today, farming is still important, but factories making office furniture and interiors are also key. Many people who live in Holziken travel to other towns for work.
