Horse Creek is a small, quiet place in western Laramie County, Wyoming, United States. It's called an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Horse Creek is located along WYO 211. It sits northwest of Cheyenne, which is the main city in Laramie County.
The community is nestled between Horse Creek to the north and the South Fork of Horse Creek to the south. Horse Creek is quite high up, with an elevation of 6,506 feet (1,983 meters) above sea level. Even though it's unincorporated, it has its own ZIP code of 82061. In 2010, about 39 people lived there. Horse Creek used to have a post office, but it closed in the early 2010s.

Schepp's Corner: A Local Hub
From 1948 to 1981, Tony and Marian Schepp ran a general store, a place to eat and drink, and an auto repair shop in Horse Creek. Their eating and drinking spot was known as Schepp's Corner. It was a popular meeting place for workers from the nearby Great Western Limestone Mine. The mine closed in 1978, but Schepp's Corner remained a community spot for a few more years.
New Owners for the Town
In 1989, a couple named Candace and David Kirkman bought the entire community of Horse Creek. They were from North Carolina. Candace had always dreamed of moving to Wyoming since she was a child. This dream inspired their unique purchase of the whole town.
