Huarmey is a town located on the coast of Peru. It's part of the Ancash Region. This town is one of five districts and also the capital city of the Huarmey Province. You can find Huarmey by traveling north on the Pan-American highway, after leaving the department of Lima near Paramonga. It's about 82 kilometers from the Fortaleza River. Huarmey was officially created on December 20, 1984.

At certain times of the year, people living here catch many shrimps in the Huarmey River. This river helps the valley grow plants. It flows from south to north.

The port of Huarmey is about 5 kilometers south of the town. You can reach it by taking a turn off the Pan-American highway.

Huarmey is 83 kilometers away from the next big city, which is Casma.

Even though Huarmey is an important city in the Ancash Region, it is still developing. Huarmey has its own beaches. These beaches are great for camping and surfing. The water stays very cold all year round, even when the city itself is hot.

Huarmey is also home to an important historical site. This site is called Punta Lobos massacre. It was a place where the ancient Chimú people performed human sacrifices and burials. This happened in the 14th century, long before Europeans arrived.
