The Hudson Motor Car Company was an American car maker. It was started in Detroit, Michigan in 1909. Hudson was known for making good quality cars that didn't cost too much. They also were among the first to add safety features to their cars. For example, they put warning lights on the dashboard for things like oil pressure and generator power. In 1929, Hudson built the most cars ever, with 300,000 vehicles made in their factories in America, Belgium, and England.
In 1954, Hudson joined with another company called Nash-Kelvinator. Together, they formed a new company called American Motors Corporation (AMC). AMC became famous for its Jeep vehicles, which were civilian versions of military Jeeps. Later, AMC also made popular cars like Ramblers, Gremlins, and Pacers. Eventually, AMC was bought by the Chrysler Corporation. Chrysler still makes Jeep brand vehicles today.
