Humacao barrio-pueblo is a special part of Humacao, a town in Puerto Rico. It's like the main downtown area or the "heart" of the municipality. This barrio is where the local government offices are located. In 2010, about 3,862 people lived here.
In Puerto Rico, just like in Spain, towns often have a central area called a pueblo. This pueblo usually includes a main square, the town hall, and a Catholic church. Every year, fun festivals are held in this central square to honor the town's patron saint.

The Heart of Humacao: The Central Plaza
The main square, also called the central plaza, is found on Calle Moya Hernandez. It's a lively spot for both official events and casual fun. People gather here from morning until night to socialize and relax.
Old Spanish rules from the early 1800s, known as the Laws of the Indies, guided how towns in Puerto Rico were built. These rules said the plaza should be big enough for celebrations and festivals. They also suggested that nearby streets should have covered walkways. These walkways would protect people from the sun and rain.
Important Buildings in the Plaza Area
Right across from the central plaza in Humacao barrio-pueblo, you'll find the Concatedral Dulce Nombre de Jesús. This is a beautiful Roman Catholic church. It's an important landmark in the community.
