Exploring Hungen's History and Buildings
Hungen has several interesting old buildings to see. These include the historic Hungen Castle, which is a very old fortress. There is also the Evangelical Church, a beautiful place of worship. You can also see the Hauptbahnhof, which means the main railroad station.
Parts of Hungen's old medieval town wall can still be seen today. These walls were built many centuries ago to protect the town. They give us a glimpse into what Hungen was like long ago.
Hungen in Documentaries
The town of Hungen has even appeared in a documentary film! The railroad station in Hungen can be seen in a 2007 Canadian documentary called My Opposition: the Diaries of Friedrich Kellner.
This film is about Friedrich Kellner, who was an important legal official. He wrote a secret diary during a difficult time in history. His grandson, Robert Scott Kellner, came to Hungen in 1960. He was looking for his grandfather's records. Robert Scott Kellner later translated his grandfather's diary into English.
