Hush (whose real name is Thomas Elliot) is a supervillain from DC Comics. He appears in American comic books, often fighting against the superhero Batman. Hush was created by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee. He first showed up in Batman #609 in January 2003. This was part of a big story called Batman: Hush.

Hush is one of Batman's main enemies. He is known for being very smart and tricky. He often tries to outsmart Batman.

This character has also appeared in TV shows and video games. Cole Vallis played him in the show Gotham. Gabriel Mann and Warren Christie played Hush in the TV series Batwoman. In the Batman: Arkham video games, Kevin Conroy was the voice of Hush.

Who is Hush?

Thomas "Tommy" Elliot grew up as a childhood friend of Bruce Wayne. Both boys came from rich families. They often played games together. Tommy taught Bruce how to think like his opponents. He also taught Bruce to use their weaknesses against them. This skill later helped Bruce when he became Batman. Even as a child, Tommy was very smart and good at planning.

After his parents passed away, Tommy inherited his family's money. He then traveled the world. He went to Harvard University and became a very good surgeon.

How Hush Became a Villain

Later in his life, a villain named Riddler (Edward Nygma) got very sick. He used a special pool called a Lazarus Pit to get well. This pool made him temporarily confused. But during this time, Riddler figured out that Bruce Wayne was Batman.

Riddler tried to sell this secret to Tommy. He wanted a lot of money for it. But Tommy already knew Riddler was a criminal. Instead, Tommy offered to pay Riddler to hurt Bruce. Tommy and Riddler both disliked Bruce Wayne. So, they decided to work together to bring him down.

To do this, Elliot created his villain name, "Hush." Riddler joked that the name meant keeping Tommy's identity a secret. But it became his permanent name when another villain, Scarecrow, started singing the lullaby "Hush, Little Baby."

What are Hush's Powers and Skills?

Thomas "Tommy" Elliot has spent most of his life getting ready to fight Batman. He is one of the best surgeons in the world. He has an amazing, genius-level mind and is a master planner.

Hush's best skill is his ability to think like his enemies. He uses their own strengths and weaknesses against them. It's interesting because Bruce Wayne learned these exact planning skills from Tommy when they were kids.

Fighting Skills

Hush is an expert at shooting. He can even shoot two batarangs out of the air. He uses two M1911 .45 caliber pistols, which are his favorite weapons. He can also use them to set off C4 explosives.

While Hush does not have the same martial arts training as Batman, he is good at hand-to-hand combat. He can fight almost as well as Batman.

Medical and Disguise Skills

Hush has done amazing medical operations. For example, he fixed Harold Allnut's back and helped him speak. He also repaired Harvey Dent's face. He even invented a virus that made Killer Croc change back into a more animal-like form.

Hush can even perform plastic surgery on himself. He uses very little pain medicine and just his strong will. He has even changed his own face to look like other people, such as Bruce Wayne. He does this by planning many surgeries on his own face, using only a mirror.

Wealth and Resources

Thomas Elliot used to have a huge family fortune. This made him as rich as Bruce Wayne. He used his money to pay for his plans. He could also pay other villains in Gotham, like Mr. Freeze, to help him.

However, after a story called "Heart of Hush," Catwoman took most of his money. This made him poor. He then tried to use his new face, which looked like Bruce Wayne, to steal from the Wayne family fortune. He also wanted to cut off the Batman Family from their money. But this plan failed because he did not realize how smart his enemies were. He ended up being a puppet for the Batman Family and their friends. He now helps make people think that Bruce Wayne is still alive.
