Hydro's Early Days

Hydro was officially started on August 6, 1901. It was built close to the Choctaw, Oklahoma and Gulf Railroad, which was important for travel and trade back then.

When the town first began, it was called "Caddo." However, when the post office opened in September 1901, the name was changed. The new name, "Hydro," was chosen because the town had a lot of fresh water from its wells.
