His Education

Íñigo Pírfano loved music and learning. He studied music theory, piano, and harmony. At the same time, he earned a degree in philosophy from the Complutense University of Madrid.

Later, in 1997, he went to Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria. There, he focused on "Musikleitung," which means orchestral, choral, and opera conducting. He learned from great teachers like Professor Karl Kamper. He also studied piano. He earned a special diploma in conducting with honors.

In June 1997, Íñigo led a special concert in Salzburg. He performed music by famous composers like Stravinsky and Falla. He also helped new composers show their work for the first time. He later attended special classes with famous conductors like Sir Colin Davis and Kurt Masur in Germany.

Leading Orchestras

Íñigo Pírfano has led many orchestras in different countries. He has conducted in Austria, Germany, Poland, and his home country, Spain. He has worked with groups like the National Basque Orchestra and the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra.

He even started his own group called the Orquesta Académica de Madrid. In 2002, he conducted his first opera. It was Retablo de Maese Pedro by Manuel de Falla. This was part of a tribute to Miguel de Cervantes' famous character, Don Quixote.

As a Composer

Besides conducting, Íñigo Pírfano also writes music. In 1997, he wrote the music for a film called El Sudor de los Ruiseñores. This music was so good that he was nominated for an award.

In 2000, he presented a piece called Quatre Alcools. It was for a singer called a mezzo-soprano and an orchestra. In 2012, he was asked to write the official music for the 400th anniversary of the famous book Don Quixote.

As a Writer

Íñigo Pírfano has also written books. His first book, Ebrietas. El poder de la belleza, was published in 2012. In 2013, he released his second book, Inteligencia Musical.

Awards and Recognition

In 2012, Íñigo Pírfano received the Young Leadership Award. This award came from the Spanish Fundación Rafael del Pino. It recognized his achievements and leadership.
