IG-11 facts for kids

IG-11 is a special kind of droid from the The Mandalorian TV show. At first, he was a dangerous assassin droid, programmed to hunt down targets. But his story changed a lot! He became a helpful nurse droid and a brave protector for a very important character named Grogu.

IG-11's First Mission

IG-11 first appeared in The Mandalorian as a bounty hunter. He was hired to find a valuable target, just like the main character, Din Djarin (also known as the Mandalorian). They ended up working together to find this target, who turned out to be Grogu.

A Change of Plans

When they found Grogu, IG-11 was programmed to eliminate the target. But the Mandalorian stopped him, because he wanted to protect Grogu. The Mandalorian shot IG-11, thinking he had destroyed the droid.

Rebuilt as a Nurse Droid

Luckily, IG-11 was not completely destroyed. A kind alien named Kuiil found IG-11 and decided to fix him. Kuiil reprogrammed IG-11 to be a nurse droid instead of an assassin. This meant IG-11 was now designed to help and heal, not to harm.

Protecting Grogu

Later, the Mandalorian asked Kuiil and IG-11 to join him on a new mission. IG-11 was given a very important job: to protect Grogu. He took this job very seriously.

Heroic Actions and Sacrifice

During the mission, things became very dangerous. Kuiil was sadly killed, and Grogu was captured by Imperial forces. But IG-11 quickly came to the rescue! He bravely fought the Imperial soldiers to get Grogu back.

Healing and Escape

At one point, the group was trapped in a tavern. The Mandalorian was hurt, but IG-11 used his new nurse droid skills to heal him. This allowed the others to escape.

Final Sacrifice

The group tried to escape by boat down a lava stream. But a group of stormtroopers blocked their way. To save his friends and Grogu, IG-11 made a brave choice. He sacrificed himself by self-destructing, which destroyed the stormtroopers and allowed the Mandalorian and his group to get away safely.

Voice and Appearance

IG-11 was voiced by the famous actor and director Taika Waititi. He sounds a lot like another well-known droid from Star Wars, IG-88. IG-88 was a bounty hunter droid who appeared in The Empire Strikes Back.
