Iceberg Peak is a really cool mountain found in Glacier National Park in Montana, U.S.. It stands super tall at 9,149 feet (2,789 m)! This amazing peak is part of the Lewis Range and is famous for its steep sides.
Iceberg Peak rises more than 3,000 feet (910 m) above a beautiful lake called Iceberg Lake. It's a challenging climb for experienced hikers because of how steep it is. The mountain also sits right on the Continental Divide, which is like a giant natural line that separates which way water flows across North America. It's about 1.1 mi (1.8 km) northwest of another peak called Mount Wilbur.

Exploring Iceberg Peak's Location
Iceberg Peak is located in a special place called Glacier National Park. This park is in the northern part of Montana, right next to the border with Canada. The park is known for its amazing mountains, deep valleys, and, of course, its glaciers!
The peak itself is split between two counties in Montana: Glacier County, Montana and Flathead County, Montana. Being on the Continental Divide means that rain or snow falling on one side of Iceberg Peak will eventually flow to the Pacific Ocean, while water on the other side will flow to the Atlantic Ocean.
Why is it Called Iceberg Peak?
The name "Iceberg Peak" comes from the nearby Iceberg Lake. This lake is famous because even in summer, you can often see small icebergs floating in its clear, cold water! These icebergs break off from the snow and ice that stay frozen year-round in the shady areas below the peak.
The mountain's towering presence above the lake makes it look like a giant guardian. It's a truly unforgettable sight, especially when the sun hits the peak and the icebergs sparkle in the lake below.
Climbing and Exploring the Area
Climbing Iceberg Peak is considered a difficult adventure. The mountain has very steep sections that require a lot of skill and experience. It's not a climb for beginners! However, many people enjoy hiking the trails around Iceberg Lake to get amazing views of the peak.
The trails in this area offer incredible scenery. You can see wildflowers, tall trees, and maybe even some wildlife like mountain goats or bighorn sheep. Even if you don't climb the peak, the views from the trails are breathtaking.
