Ida Margaret Graves Poore, Lady Poore (born December 28, 1859 – died February 5, 1941), was an Anglo-Irish writer and poet. She wrote about her own life and experiences. She was also known as Lady Poore after she married.

Life and Adventures
Growing Up in Ireland
Ida Margaret Graves was born in Dublin, Ireland. Her father, Charles Graves, was a church leader. He worked in the Chapel Royal at Dublin Castle. Ida grew up living between Dublin and their home in Parknasilla, Kerry. Later, her father became a Bishop in Limerick.
Ida had a famous brother named Alfred Perceval Graves. He was also a writer. Her nephew was the well-known poet Robert Graves.
Her Education Journey
When she was young, Ida went to a special school for girls in Fulham, England. After that, she studied at home with a private teacher called a governess. This was when her family lived in Blarney, Cork.
Later, Ida went to Fanny Metcalfe's school in Highfield. There, she was classmates with Blanche Athena Clough. When she returned to Kerry, Ida helped her father. She worked as his secretary after the Disestablishment of the Church of Ireland. Many interesting guests visited her family, including William Le Fanu, the brother of writer Sheridan Le Fanu.
Exciting Travels Abroad
Ida traveled a lot with her father because of his health. They visited different countries in Europe and also Algeria. She also traveled in Egypt. This is where she met her future husband.
Her own story gives a great look into the history of these places. She wrote about the trouble in Alexandria. This included the bombing of the city by British forces.
Marriage and Family Life
Ida married Sir Richard Poore, 4th Baronet on September 14, 1885. They had one son named Roger. Roger followed his father and joined the Navy. Sadly, he was killed in action in 1915.
Richard Poore became a high-ranking officer, an Admiral, in the Navy. Ida wrote two books about her life. These books shared what it was like to be a woman and the wife of an admiral. Sailors who worked with her husband called her Flag Mother.
Life in Australia
From 1908 to 1911, Ida and her husband lived in Sydney, Australia. Her husband was assigned to work there. While in Australia, Lady Poore became the very first president of the Bush Book Club. This club helped people in remote areas get books.
Later Years
Ida Margaret Graves Poore passed away on February 5, 1941, in Switzerland.
