Early Life
Growing Up and Learning Tech
Iddris Sandu was born in Accra, Ghana. When he was just three years old, he moved to the United States with his family. He grew up in California, first in Compton and later in Harbor City. Iddris started learning computer programming when he was only ten years old!
Early Achievements
By the time he was 13, Iddris was offered an amazing chance to work at Google as an intern. There, he helped with Google+ and thought of new ways for people to connect online. In high school, he even made an app for his school. This app used augmented reality to help students find their way around campus, like a special map that shows directions right in front of you. Iddris also strongly believed that schools should teach more about STEM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
Career
Working with Big Companies
Iddris Sandu has worked as a special technology helper and engineer for many big companies. These include Boeing, Twitter, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Uber, Snapchat, and Instagram. For Uber, he created a special software program called Autonomous Collision Detection Interface. This program could tell how a driver's hands were moving and where they were positioned.
Digital Creations for Artists
Iddris has also used his skills to create digital content for famous artists. He has worked with stars like Beyonce, Kanye West, Migos, Travis Scott, Rihanna, Jay Z, and Jaden Smith. In 2017, he teamed up with the artist Nipsey Hussle to open a clothing store called Marathon in Los Angeles.
Starting Spatial Labs
In 2021, Iddris Sandu started his own company, Spatial Labs. It's a company based in Los Angeles that focuses on both computer hardware (the physical parts of computers) and software (the programs that run on them). In October 2021, a company called Marcy Venture Partnership (MVP), which was started by Jay-Z, invested money in Spatial Labs.
In 2022, Spatial Labs launched something cool called Gen One Hardwear. This is a collection of clothes that have a special computer chip inside them called the LNQ One Chip. They also launched the LNQ Marketplace. This is an online place where people can buy and sell physical items using blockchain technology, which is a very secure way to keep track of things.
Awards and Recognition
Iddris Sandu has received several important awards for his work. In 2022, he was named on the Ebony Power 100 list, which recognizes influential African Americans. In 2019, he won the Young African Committed to Excellence (YACE) Rising Star award. He also received the Technology Award at the Culture Creators Innovators & Leaders Awards. Iddris has even received a special Certificate of Commendation from former President Barack Obama.
