Igor Fesunenko (born January 28, 1933, in Orenburg, Soviet Union; died April 28, 2016, in Moscow, Russia) was a famous Soviet and Russian journalist. He was also a writer who focused on international news and a teacher at MGIMO.

Igor Fesunenko was a well-known journalist and writer. He traveled the world to report on important events. He also taught students about international relations.
Early Life and Education
Igor Fesunenko was born in Orenburg. He spent his childhood in Moscow and Zaporozhye. During World War II, his family lived in the Urals.
In 1955, he finished his studies at the Moscow Historical Archives Institute. He became a historian and an archivist. After his studies, he served in the Soviet Army for two years.
Starting a Journalism Career
From 1957 to 1963, Igor Fesunenko worked in the Main Archive Department. At the same time, he started working as a freelance journalist. He wrote for Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper. He also worked for the USSR Broadcaster.
In 1963, he joined the Latin American section of the Broadcaster. He already knew Spanish, which was very helpful. He was sent to Brazil to learn Portuguese.
Reporting from Around the World
In 1966, Igor Fesunenko became a correspondent for Television in the Soviet Union. He reported from countries in South America. His news office was in Rio de Janeiro.
He returned to the USSR in 1971. From 1973 to 1975, he worked as a correspondent in Cuba. Later, from 1975 to 1979, he reported from Portugal.
After his time abroad, he became a political commentator. He hosted popular TV shows like Today in the World and International Panorama. He also hosted Vremya, a well-known news program.
In the early 1990s, he worked in Italy. He continued to host shows in Russia, including Mayak on ORT. In the 2000s, he worked for Channel 5.
Awards and Interests
Igor Fesunenko received several awards for his work. He was given the Order of the Badge of Honour. He also received the Medal "For Distinguished Labour". He was honored with the title of Honorary Radio Operator.
Besides his journalism, Igor Fesunenko was known for his many books about football. He was a big fan of two football clubs: Botafogo from Rio de Janeiro and CSKA from Moscow.
