Infanta María Luisa Fernanda of Spain (born January 30, 1832 – died February 2, 1897) was a Spanish princess. She was known as an Infanta of Spain because she was born into the Spanish royal family.
Luisa Fernanda became the Duchess of Montpensier when she married Prince Antoine, Duke of Montpensier in 1846. He was a son of King Louis Philippe I of France. She was also the younger sister of Queen Isabel II of Spain.
Her Family and Children
Luisa Fernanda and her husband, Prince Antoine, had several children. They created a large family that connected the royal houses of Spain and France.
- Princess Marie Isabelle of Orléans (born September 21, 1848 – died April 23, 1919). She married Prince Philippe, Count of Paris and had children.
- Princess Maria Amelia of Orléans (born 1851 – died 1870). She did not marry.
- Princess María Cristina of Orléans (born October 29, 1852 – died April 28, 1879). She also did not marry.
- Princess Maria de la Regla of Orléans (born 1856 – died 1861).
- An unnamed child (born 1857 – died 1857).
- Prince Fernando of Orléans (born 1859 – died 1873).
- Mercedes o Orléans (born June 24, 1860 – died June 26, 1878). She married Alfonso XII of Spain but did not have children.
- Infante Antonio, Duke of Galliera (born February 23, 1866 – died December 24, 1930). He married Infanta Eulalia of Spain and they had children.
