Getting Around Inverness
A big road called U.S. Route 280 goes right through Inverness. This road is super important for the area. You'll find many restaurants and shopping centers along Route 280. It also has a major intersection with Valleydale Road, which is also known as County Road 17.

Becoming Part of Hoover
For the 1990 U.S. Census, Inverness was counted as a CDP within Shelby County. But soon after that, Inverness became an official part of the city of Hoover. Most of Inverness is now inside Hoover's city limits. However, a few small parts are still in the unincorporated areas of Shelby County.
A Bit of History: The 1994 Tornado
On March 27, 1994, a powerful tornado hit the Inverness area. This tornado was an F2, which means it was quite strong. It caused damage to business buildings in Inverness. Other nearby towns like Pelham, Helena, and Indian Springs were also affected by this storm.
