Iqbal Theba (born December 20, 1963) is a Pakistani-American actor. He is most famous for playing Principal Figgins in the popular musical TV show Glee.

Early Life and Education
Iqbal Theba was born in Karachi, Pakistan. He is part of the Theba tribe, who speak the Sindhi language.
In 1981, Theba moved to the United States to study civil engineering at the University of Oklahoma. However, he soon realized his true passion was acting. He left his engineering studies to become an actor in New York.
Later, he returned to the University of Oklahoma and earned a degree in theater in 1986. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles, California, to start his acting career.
Acting Career
Theba's career began with a role in an NBC TV show pilot called Death and Taxes. A pilot is the first episode of a show, made to see if people will like it. Even though the show wasn't made into a full series, this role helped him get more work.
He soon landed a recurring role on The George Carlin Show. A recurring role means he appeared in several episodes as the same character. He also had small recurring parts in popular shows like Married... with Children and ER.
Over the years, Theba has appeared in many famous TV shows. Some of these include Friends, Seinfeld, The West Wing, Community, and Two and a Half Men. He also had roles in movies like Transformers: Dark of the Moon and the award-winning film Green Book.
Glee (2009–2015)
Theba's most well-known role is Principal Figgins on the TV series Glee. He appeared in 58 episodes over the show's six seasons.
Interestingly, the character of Principal Figgins was first written to be a white person. However, the creators of the show were so impressed with Theba that they cast him in the role. Theba said that he tried to play Figgins as a mix of an authority figure who is also a little insecure.
In 2012, he also appeared on The Glee Project, a reality show where contestants competed for a role on Glee.
Other Notable Roles
Besides Glee, Theba has had many other memorable roles.
- He played Gobi Nadir, the father of the character Abed, in the comedy show Community.
- In 2017, he voiced the character Slav in the animated series Voltron: Legendary Defender.
- He played General Umair Zaman in the HBO comedy series The Brink.
Personal Life
Iqbal Theba is married and has two children, a son named Mikael and a daughter named Ranya.
