He gathered signatures from other NBA players for a letter. This letter was then given to the Chinese Government and the President of the Olympic Committee. The goal was to encourage action before the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. Newble's actions showed his dedication to helping people and making a positive impact beyond the basketball court.
