Iris Hauser (born in 1956) is a Canadian artist and painter. She is famous for telling stories and using symbols in her portrait paintings. She mainly uses oil paints in her artwork. Iris Hauser lives in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Early Life and Art Education
Iris Hauser was born in 1956 in Cranbrook, British Columbia. She started her art studies in Victoria from 1973 to 1974. After that, she went to the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax. She graduated from there in 1975.
She continued her studies at the University of Saskatchewan from 1977 to 1979. Later, from 1980 to 1981, Hauser spent a year studying art on her own in Kassel, Germany.
Iris Hauser's Art Career
Iris Hauser has taught art at the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon. She also taught in the Certificate of Art and Design program at the University of Saskatchewan. She was part of the board for CARFAC Saskatchewan. This group helps artists in Canada.
Hauser also helped choose artists for shows as a juror for the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils. Her artwork is kept in many important collections. These include the Mendel Art Gallery and the Kenderdine Art Gallery. Her art is also at the Saskatchewan Arts Board and the Canada Council Art Bank in Ottawa. You can also find her work at the Stall Gallery in Saskatoon. The Mann Gallery in Prince Albert and The Art Gallery of Regina also have her pieces. Many Canadian book covers feature her art too.
What Makes Her Art Special?
Iris Hauser showed an interest in art from a very young age. She often talks about a clear dream she had as a toddler. She tried to draw it right away with crayons. In her paintings, she uses many symbols and well-known images. She mostly works with oil paints.
Hauser often paints the same people in different artworks. One of her art series shows her brother. It gently tells the story of his journey of healing and overcoming challenges. She shows him as different characters in these paintings.
