Isaiah Canaan is a 6-foot-tall guard from Biloxi, Mississippi. He went to Murray State after leading his high school team, Biloxi High School, to a state championship.

As a freshman in the 2009–10 season, Canaan quickly made an impact. He averaged 10.4 points per game and was excellent at shooting three-pointers, making 48.5% of them. He was named the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Freshman of the Year. His team won their league and the 2010 OVC tournament, where Canaan was named MVP. Murray State then surprised many by beating Vanderbilt in the NCAA tournament.

In his second year, Canaan improved his scoring to 11.7 points per game. He was named to the All-OVC team. He helped the Racers win their second straight OVC regular-season championship.

His junior year was a huge success. Canaan and the Racers started the season with an amazing 23 wins in a row. He was named MVP of the 2011 Great Alaska Shootout tournament, scoring 36 points in the final game. Canaan was the team's top scorer and was considered for major college basketball awards.

To honor his great career, Murray State retired Canaan's number 3 jersey on February 17, 2018. This means no other player on the team will wear that number.
