Ivan Charles Rabb Jr. was born on February 4, 1997. He is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the California Golden Bears team. When he was in high school in California, he was named the best player in the state in 2015. He was also recognized as an All-American player across the country.

In his first year with the Golden Bears, Ivan was named to the second-team All-Pac-12 conference. As a sophomore, he was named first-team All-Pac-12. He was then chosen in the second round of the 2017 NBA draft. Ivan started his professional career playing two seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies.

High School Basketball Star

Ivan Rabb went to Bishop O'Dowd High School. There, he helped his team win two CIF Northern California Open Division basketball championships. They also won one CIF Open Division State Championship. During the summer, Ivan played for the Oakland Soldiers, an AAU team.

Amazing High School Records

Over his four years playing varsity basketball, Ivan scored more than 2,000 points. He also grabbed over 1,000 rebounds. He is the player with the most wins (108–19) in his school's history. In single games, he set personal bests of 42 points, 26 rebounds, eight assists, and 13 blocked shots.

Freshman and Sophomore Success

In his first year (2011–12), Ivan helped his team get a 24–7 record. They also reached the 2012 CIF NCS championship game. As a freshman, he averaged 7.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game. In October 2012, he took part in a special USA Developmental National Team training camp.

As a sophomore (2012–13), he scored 25 points and got 10 rebounds in the 2013 CIF North Coast Section (NCS) Division III championship game. This helped his team win the title for the second year in a row. They also won their league without losing a single game. That year, he averaged 25.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 8.0 blocks. He was also named to the 2013-14 USA Basketball Men's Developmental National Team.

Senior Year Highlights

In his senior year, Ivan averaged 24.5 points, 16.3 rebounds, and 4.5 blocks. He led his team to win the CIF open division state title. In the championship game, Ivan scored 19 points and grabbed 21 rebounds. He also blocked 2 shots. He made the winning free throw with only 0.8 seconds left, giving his team the victory.

College Basketball Journey

Before deciding where to play college basketball, Ivan Rabb had ten schools he was considering. He finally chose to go to the University of California, Berkeley. He decided to play for their team, the Golden Bears.

Freshman and Sophomore Seasons

Ivan had a great first year, earning second-team All-Pac-12 honors. Many people thought he would enter the 2016 NBA draft early. However, he surprised everyone by choosing to stay at Cal for his sophomore year. Before the 2016–17 season, he was named a preseason All-American by the Associated Press.

After his sophomore season ended on March 22, 2017, Ivan announced his decision. He chose to leave college early and enter the 2017 NBA draft.

Professional Basketball Career

Memphis Grizzlies (2017–2019)

In the 2017 NBA draft, Ivan Rabb was picked 35th overall. The Orlando Magic chose him, but then traded his rights to the Memphis Grizzlies. On September 18, 2017, Ivan signed a three-year deal with the Grizzlies. The first two years of his contract were fully guaranteed. During his time with the Grizzlies, he also played many games for their G-League team, the Memphis Hustle. On October 19, 2019, the Grizzlies decided to release him.

Westchester Knicks (2019–2020)

On October 23, 2019, Ivan signed a special "two-way" contract with the New York Knicks. This type of contract allows a player to play for both the NBA team and its G-League team. However, on January 13, 2020, the New York Knicks announced they had released Ivan. He did not play in any games for the main Knicks team. On January 23, 2020, it was reported that Ivan joined the Westchester Knicks roster.

Delaware Blue Coats (2021)

For the 2020–21 season, Ivan Rabb joined the Delaware Blue Coats. This team is also part of the NBA G League. He played his first game with them on February 11, 2021.

Playing for Team USA

Ivan was a member of the USA Basketball Men's U16 National Team. This team had a perfect 5–0 record and won a gold medal. This happened at the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Uruguay. Ivan started three games and averaged 12.0 points and 9.8 rebounds.

About Ivan's Life

Ivan Rabb is the son of Ivan Sr. and Tami Rabb. He has a younger brother named Tamarik, who also went to Bishop O'Dowd High School. Ivan started playing basketball when he was about 6 or 7 years old. In high school, he had a good GPA of 3.15. He attended the University of California, Berkeley. ESPN ranked him as the 8th best recruit in 2015. Ivan is also a cousin of Reggie Rogers, a famous player from the University of Washington and the NFL.

Ivan is also cousins with Regina Rogers-Wright, who is Reggie's daughter and also played at the University of Washington.
