Ivan Charles Rabb Jr. (born February 4, 1997) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the California Golden Bears. Ivan grew up in California. In 2015, he was named the best high school player in the state. He also earned national recognition as an All-American. As a freshman, Rabb was named second-team all-conference in the Pac-12. He was first-team All-Pac-12 as a sophomore. Later, he was chosen in the second round of the 2017 NBA draft. He started his professional career playing two seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies.

High School Basketball Career
Ivan Rabb went to Bishop O'Dowd High School. There, he helped his team win two CIF Northern California Open Division basketball championships. They also won one CIF Open Division State Championship. During the summer, Rabb played for the Oakland Soldiers, an AAU team.
In his four years on the varsity team, Rabb scored over 2,000 points. He also grabbed more than 1,000 rebounds. He is the player with the most wins in his school's history (108 wins and 19 losses). In single games, he once scored 42 points. He also had 26 rebounds, eight assists, and 13 blocked shots in different games.
As a freshman in 2011–12, he helped his team get a 24–7 record. They reached the 2012 CIF NCS championship game. He averaged 7.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game. In October 2012, he joined a special mini-camp for the USA Developmental National Team.
In his sophomore year (2012–13), he scored 25 points and got 10 rebounds in a championship game. This helped his team win the 2013 California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) North Coast Section (NCS) Division III title. It was their second straight CIF NCS Division III title. His team also won every game in their league, the WACC. That season, he averaged 25.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 8.0 blocks. He was also named to the 2013-14 USA Basketball Men's Developmental National Team.
As a senior, Rabb averaged 24.5 points, 16.3 rebounds, and 4.5 blocks. He led his team to win the CIF open division state title. In the final game, Rabb scored 19 points and grabbed 21 rebounds. He also blocked 2 shots. With only 0.8 seconds left, he made a free throw that won the game for his team.

College Basketball Career
Before deciding where to play college basketball, Ivan Rabb considered many schools. He finally chose to attend the University of California, Berkeley. He decided to play for the Golden Bears team.
After a great first year, he was named second-team All-Pac-12. Many people thought he would join the 2016 NBA draft. However, he surprised them by choosing to stay at Cal for another year. Before the 2016–17 season, he was named a preseason All-American. This means experts thought he would be one of the best players.
After his second year in college, on March 22, 2017, Rabb announced his plans. He decided to leave college early and enter the 2017 NBA draft.
Professional Basketball Career
Playing for the Memphis Grizzlies (2017–2019)
The Orlando Magic picked Ivan Rabb 35th overall in the 2017 NBA draft. This was the 5th pick in the second round. However, the Magic soon traded his rights to the Memphis Grizzlies. On September 18, 2017, Rabb signed a three-year contract with the Grizzlies. His first two seasons were fully guaranteed.
During his time with the Grizzlies, he also played many games for the Memphis Hustle. This team is the Grizzlies' G-League affiliate. G-League teams are like minor league teams for the NBA. On October 19, 2019, the Grizzlies decided to release him from their team.
Playing for the Westchester Knicks (2019–2020)
On October 23, 2019, Rabb signed a special "two-way contract" with the New York Knicks. This type of contract allows a player to play for both an NBA team and its G-League team. On January 13, 2020, the New York Knicks announced they had released Rabb. He did not play in any games for the main Knicks team. On January 23, 2020, Rabb joined the Westchester Knicks roster. This is the G-League team for the New York Knicks.
Playing for the Delaware Blue Coats (2021)
For the 2020–21 season, Rabb joined the Delaware Blue Coats. This team is part of the NBA G League. He played his first game with them on February 11, 2021.
National Team Experience
Ivan Rabb was part of the USA Basketball Men's U16 National Team. In 2013, this team won a gold medal at the FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Uruguay. They won all five of their games. Rabb started in three games. He averaged 12.0 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.

Personal Life
Ivan Rabb is the son of Ivan Sr. and Tami Rabb. He has a younger brother named Tamarik, who also went to Bishop O'Dowd High School. Ivan started playing basketball when he was about 6 or 7 years old. In high school, he had a good academic record with a 3.15 GPA. He attended the University of California, Berkeley. ESPN ranked him as the 8th best recruit in 2015. Ivan is also a cousin of Reggie Rogers, a former NFL player. His cousin, Regina Rogers-Wright, also played basketball at the University of Washington.
