Ivo Minář (born May 21, 1984) is a former professional tennis player from the Czech Republic. He was known for his strong game and reached a high ranking in the world of tennis.
Ivo's brother, Jan Minář, also played tennis professionally. Ivo Minář was part of the Czech Republic team that won the 2012 Davis Cup, which is a big international team competition in tennis. After he stopped playing, he also worked as a coach for another Czech tennis player, Kristýna Plíšková.

Ivo Minář's Tennis Journey
Ivo Minář started showing his talent in tennis from a young age. When he was 16, he won the European junior championships in a place called Klosters. In that tournament, he beat another famous Czech player, Tomáš Berdych.
Starting a Professional Career
Ivo Minář became a professional tennis player in 2002. During his career, he played in many tournaments around the world. He reached one important singles final in 2005 at the Sydney tournament in Australia.
In that final match, he played against Lleyton Hewitt, a well-known Australian tennis star, and lost. However, to get to that final, Ivo beat three players who later became top 10 players in the world: Nikolay Davydenko, Fernando Verdasco, and Radek Štěpánek. This showed how skilled he was.
Later in 2005, Ivo played against the legendary Roger Federer, who was ranked number one in the world at the time. Ivo pushed Federer to a very close match, showing his fighting spirit on the court.
Career Highlights and Rankings
On July 20, 2009, Ivo Minář reached his highest singles ranking, becoming World No. 62. This was a great achievement for him in his career. He played in all four major tennis tournaments, known as the Grand Slams: the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.
He reached the second round at the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open. In doubles, he won one title in 2009 at the tournament in Munich, Germany, playing with his partner Jan Hernych.
