J-Milla, also known as J-MILLA, is an Aboriginal Australian hip hop artist. His real name is Jacob Nichaloff. He was born in Darwin in the Northern Territory.

Early Life and School
J-Milla was born in Darwin. He is from the Marranunggu people, whose traditional lands are near Litchfield National Park in the Northern Territory. He grew up in Darwin and started rapping when he was 11 years old. When he was 12, he moved to Adelaide, South Australia, to attend Scotch College.
Music Career
J-Milla began sharing his rap videos online when he was about 18. Many people watched them, and he quickly became popular.
His first song, "My People", came out in 2018.
In 2020, J-Milla promised to give the money from his song "Unlock the System" to the family of an Aboriginal man. The ABC radio station Triple J strongly supported this song. In November 2020, he performed at the TREATY festival in Adelaide. This event was part of NAIDOC Week at Tandanya. He performed with other artists like Dem Mob and MLRN x RKM. He also helped host the event with actor Natasha Wanganeen. J-Milla was chosen to be part of TikTok's online music festival that year.
He performed at the "Hip Hop Finale" event on the last day of the Adelaide Festival in March 2021. Other artists like Ziggy Ramo, JK-47, and Jimblah also performed there.
On Saturday, November 16, 2024, J-Milla performed at the After Race Concert for the Adelaide 500 motor racing event in Adelaide. This was his biggest show at the time. He shared some new songs that had not been released yet. Crowded House and Meg Mac also performed that night.
Some of J-Milla's music talks about important issues for Aboriginal Australians. These include how past events affect people today and the idea of reconciliation. Reconciliation is about bringing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians together.
Other Activities
J-Milla works with Aboriginal children in remote communities. He teaches them how to write songs in schools. He helps the children use music to share their feelings. He also leads workshops about important topics like mental health.
Personal Life
As of July 2025, J-Milla is married and has two children. He lives in Adelaide.
