JYJ is a popular South Korean boy group. It has three talented members: Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu. The group's name, JYJ, comes from the first letter of each member's name.

Before forming JYJ, these three members were part of another well-known K-pop group called TVXQ. JYJ officially started in 2010. Since then, they have released several albums and performed many concerts around the world.

History of JYJ

Starting as JYJ: A New Beginning

Before JYJ officially debuted, the three members had a disagreement with their former company, SM Entertainment. This happened in 2009. They felt their contracts were too long and unfair. They wanted to have more control over their music careers.

A court in Seoul agreed with the members in October 2009. This decision allowed them to work on their own. Even after this, the three members continued to perform in Japan as part of TVXQ for a while. Their Japanese agency, Avex, announced a break for the group in early 2010.

2010: Debut and First Albums

In June 2010, the members performed live concerts in Japan. These were called Thanksgiving Live in Dome concerts. They also performed at the a-nation tour in August. Their first album in Japan, The..., came out in September 2010. It quickly became number one on the Oricon charts.

JYJ then signed with C-JeS Entertainment in Korea. However, Avex Entertainment in Japan decided to stop all of JYJ's activities there. They said it was due to issues with JYJ's Korean management.

On October 12, JYJ released their first worldwide album, The Beginning. The main song from this album was "Ayyy Girl". To promote their new music, JYJ went on a showcase tour around the world. They visited South Korea, parts of Asia, and the United States. In November, they held two big concerts in Seoul called JYJ Worldwide Concert in Seoul.

2011: New Music and World Tour

On January 25, 2011, JYJ released a Korean EP (Extended Play) called Their Rooms "Our Story". It was presented as a "music essay."

In the spring of 2011, JYJ started their first ever Worldwide Concert Tour. They performed in many countries, including Thailand, Taiwan, China, Canada, and the United States. They finished this tour with two special concerts in South Korea in June.

In September, JYJ released their first full Korean studio album. It was titled In Heaven. They also added more dates to their World Tour. They performed in Barcelona, Spain, on October 29. Then they went to Berlin, Germany, on November 6.

2012-Present: Fan Events and Agreement

In January 2012, JYJ announced more concert dates. They performed in Santiago, Chile, on March 9. Then they went to Lima, Peru, on March 11. This marked the end of JYJ's first Worldwide Concert Tour in South America.

On February 23, JYJ released a 90-minute film called The Day. This documentary showed parts of their daily lives and dreams. It was also a special event for their fans.

Starting on June 28, JYJ held a large international fan fair in South Korea. This event was free for fans. It lasted for four days, from June 28 to July 1. It included photos and videos of the band. There were also fan meetings. Because fans loved it so much, C-JeS Entertainment decided to hold this "Membership Week" event every year.

On November 28, 2012, JYJ and SM Entertainment reached an agreement. They decided to end all their past contracts. They also agreed not to interfere with each other's activities in the future. This brought an end to their long-standing legal issue, which had lasted over three years.
