Jacaboa is a special kind of neighborhood called a barrio. It is located in the town of Patillas, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 1,278 people lived in Jacaboa.

A Look Back in Time

After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States in 1898. This happened under the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a special area that belongs to the United States.

In 1899, the U.S. government took a census (a count of all the people) in Puerto Rico. They found that Jacaboa and a nearby area called Bajo had a combined population of 1,198 people.
